Creating a character means embracing all the tools you have, inside and out--and this "playshop" will help us do that as we find ways to use our one-of-a-kind bodies to make theatre with our cast-mates. We'll explore "best of" techniques that are inspired by Dell'Arte, LeCoq, Laban, Simple Clown, Spolin and Boal. Come ready to move and play with your fellow theatre-makers! Though puppetry is a movement-based artform, we often need and want to add voices to our puppets to increase storytelling possibilities. Where does one begin? At the beginning, of course! This fun workshop for performers of ALL levels and experiences will share vocal warm ups that increase range and articulation and activities and tips to find character voices. A deeper dive into “Avenue Q” style (hand-in-mouth) puppets! After an overview of basics, we’ll explore techniques and tips that bring to life the type of puppets that are the springboard for the fun and fabulous characters that live on this fun and fabulous stage street. Perfect for anyone who's inspired by or interested in "Muppet-style" puppetry.
